about me

I began as a player. A casual enjoyer of puzzles and stories.

One day, I beat the Minecraft Ender Dragon. As I had done many times before, the game was completed. But this time I stopped to read the end poem.

"Sometimes the player read lines of code on a screen. Decoded them into words; decoded words into meaning; decoded meaning into feelings, emotions, theories, ideas, and the player started to breathe faster and deeper and realised it was alive, it was alive, those thousand deaths had not been real, the player was alive", said Julian Gough through the game of Minecraft.

Creating video games is not just making a fun experience for a player. We put pieces of ourselves into the art we make, and we talk to the player through the trials of a game.

Sometimes I read the poem and I am my ten year old self, sitting at my family computer, watching the words scroll. I am thirteen years old, playing my first server with my friends. Sometimes I'm sixteen, sitting alone during the pandemic, but not alone in the game of Minecraft.

This is what games are. To make games is to be a creator, a dreamer, a sculptor of worlds, and to be a human telling another human that they are real.

what i do

I am exploring my passions at High Point University as a Computer Science and Game Design major in the Honors college. I attend several clubs, including the Code Club and HPUminds, and I am on both executive boards for International Game Design Association and Game Development Club

My favorite part about my experience here is the community. The honors community fosters a great environment for curiosity and scholarship, and the game design cohort are close and work extremely hard. I am inspired every day by my peers.

I work at the High Point University IT Service Center, helping fix the technological fires around campus. I also do research related to physics projects for the school of natural sciences, as I am quite interested in data analysis and programming.

Check out my projects!

Role: Programmer and Level Designer

This is the first game I've ever made. I participated in a two-week game jam, where the theme was Hide or Seek, and we decided to  produce a multiplayer, hyper realistic game. I worked especially on blueprinting and placemaking within the level. We utilized Unreal Engine 5.3 for the visual scripting and programming.

Role: Game Designer, Artist, Asset Creator, Level Designer

This is a single player puzzle game created with Unreal Engine. Gameplay centers around aesthetic, story, and mechanics. I also used Visual Studio to design a custom gravity system, and Blender to create the many custom assets that I implemented.

Role: Programmer, Artist

Cryptid Click is a speedrunning first person game made with Unreal Engine 5. The goal of the game is to assemble the Loch Ness Monster with objects found around the map, and take a picture before time runs out.
